Accomplishment and Certifications
- Franz Edelman Award for Achievement in Operations Research and the Management
Sciences in 2005 for Improving Throughput at General Motors. Documented increases in
profit of over $2B.
- Chairman’s Honor Award in manufacturing for leading the efforts to increase throughput in
GM.
- Boss Kettering award (internal to General Motors) for use of simulation to create virtual
machines that can be used to pre-program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s)
before the actual installation of the equipment, reducing programming time, shortening
product launch times, and increasing profitability
- TOC expertise – our case study within GM is used in the 20th anniversary version of The
Goal by Eli Goldratt.
- Viable Vision Consultancy - Able to teach and deliver the Viable Vision offer.
- Expertise in Statistical Engineering (Red X) in manufacturing. Red X is a technical problem
solving strategy that was pioneered by Dorian Shainin nearly 60 years ago, which links
engineering sciences, statistics and logic to solve technical problems with a high level of
statistical confidence. We generated $25M in results in the first year of operations.
- Application of TOC concepts to help identify, resolve, and further improve method of
applying Red X to manufacturing..
- Global application of the Throughput Improvement Process (TIP). TIP is used in multiple
regions (6 plants in Europe, one in Australia, a Holden plant AP) and across Powertrain
and Metal Fab. The Saab plant increased its throughput by 6 JPH,
- Improved design of manufacturing systems for throughput, especially in Body Shops. New
Body Shops consistently hit their throughput targets, with less investment and inventory.
- Other customers - Johnson & Johnson, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Dollar Thrifty
Rental Cars.
